William Smith - Coal Heaver
William Smith is listed in period publications as one of the Owasco sailors who went to augment the Tecumseh's complement for the Battle of Mobile Bay [1], [2] and was lost with her. [2], [3]
However per the Owasco's second and third quarter muster rolls, there was no one by the name of William Smith attached to her nor can a rendezvous index card be found with his name on it listing either vessel. William Smith is also not listed on a reconstructed Tecumseh muster roll that appears to have been put together in the spring of 1865.
