Jeremiah Hurley - Seaman

Jeremiah Hurley was born 1819 in Ireland. He enlisted on 11 April 1864 at the New York, NY Naval Rendezvous as a seaman for a 2 year enlistment[1]. He was sent to the U.S.S. Tecumseh on 25 April 1864.

On 29 July 1864, Hurley was admitted to Naval Hospital Pensacola with "adynamia" [3] and as a result he was not aboard the Tecumseh for the Battle of Mobile Bay. On 6 August 1864 he was transported to New Orleans with other ambulatory patients to make room for casualties from the Battle of Mobile Bay.

He was discharged to duty at some point in New Orleans to the U.S.S. Antona. [2].

Hurley was discharged from the Navy on 12 August 1865 when the Antona was decommissioned in New York.[2]
