Dr. Henry A. Danker, Assistant Surgeon
Doctor Henry A. Danker was a graduate of Columbia University, Class of 1864.[1]. He was appointed an Acting Assistant Surgeon in the volunteer Navy on 15 March 1864. On 1 April 1864, he was ordered to the U.S.S. Tecumseh [2]. He received his commission into the regular Navy on 28 April 1864. [3]
Dr. Danker was aboard the Tecumseh and died when she sank after striking a mine during the Battle of Mobile Bay.
