William J. Churchill - Fireman 1st Class

William J. Churchill was born circa 1837 in England and enlisted on 19 January 1864 at the New York, NY Naval Rendezvous as a Fireman 1st Class for a 3 year enlistment[1].

Kane was attached to the Tecumseh on 20 April 1864 [2]. He was reported lost with her during the Battle of Mobile Bay on 5 August 1864 as reported in Navy casualty lists.[3], [4].

He was approximately 27 years old and had been in the Navy for nearly two and half years. He left behind a wife and two children.[5]
